Generational craft

Emeco started in 1944 with a specific assignment – a chair to withstand the US Navy. Life on a ship is tough. Salt water. Salt air. The occasional torpedo blast.

Our very first chair, the 1006 Navy Chair®, was built to be lightweight, non-corrosive, fireproof and super resilient. Created with a unique 77-step craft process that turns ordinary scrap aluminum extraordinarily strong, the chair was tested to last 150 years.

This labor intense process is how we still make our furniture today in Hanover, Pennsylvania – rooted in generations of craftsmanship, with a view to the future.
