Utility by Jasper Morrison

Purposeful, utilitarian design, in combination with solid materials and craftsmanship, makes for a collection with true longevity. Its simple form gives the impression that it could have been around for decades. Its sturdy construction ensures it will.

In his work, Jasper Morrison pays mindful consideration to how a product will be to live with, and how it can improve the atmosphere it will inhabit. Utility is a reflection of that sensibility; a chair with a natural presence and innate appeal that invites you to have a seat.

The Utility family features chairs, armchairs and stools in two heights. The hand-shaped seats and steam bent back rests are crafted from solid, responsibly sourced hardwood from sustainably managed Appalachian forests, local to Pennsylvania. Available in Natural Ash, Dark stained Ash, Oak, Walnut and Accoya, an acetylated pine wood, suitable for outdoor use. The robust frame-to-wood connections add to the collection’s honest, transparent character.

The strong aluminum frame guarantees stability and strength. It's handcrafted from recycled aluminum at our factory in Hanover, PA, using the same unique 77-step process as the original Navy chair. It comes in Emeco’s signature hand brushed, clear anodized finish, or a black powder coated finish, both suitable for outdoor use when paired with an Accoya seat and back.
