Care + Maintenance

All Navy Lounge chairs, sofas and tables are made by hand from recycled aluminum, in Hanover, Pennsylvania.

Care Advice: Sofas and Lounge Chairs

Aluminum frames:
Navy Lounge sofa and lounge chair frames are hand brushed, clear powder coated, or powder coated in a selection of colors. To clean the powder coated frames, use a clean, soft, non-abrasive cloth, rag or industrial cotton. We recommend using warm water mixed with a mild soap such as Dawn. Avoid strong rubbing. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly to avoid residue or water spots. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.

Emeco's powder coated finish is outdoor approved. We suggest cleaning with soap and water every two weeks to remove grit and other air pollutants that can pit the surface.

Upholstery:
Please refer to the fabric/material supplier's care advice. Emeco's standard upholstery offering is:

Leather: Spinneybeck Volo
Wool fabric: Kvadrat Hero Heather
Recycled polyester fabric: Camira RePlay Zero
Outdoor textile: Sunbrella Heritage

For lounge chairs and sofas upholstered in Sunbrella Heritage and used outdoors, it is always recommended that furniture be stored indoors, or covered, during the winter season and/or when not in use.

Arm caps:
The Navy Lounge arm caps in solid wood are handmade from local, sustainably sourced solid wood. Clean with a warm, soapy, damp cloth gently applied to the surface. Do not use any harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.

Accoya is intended for outdoor applications. Like any natural wood species, Accoya will grey and change color when exposed to exterior conditions. Regular cleaning with a warm, soapy, damp cloth gently applied to the surface is recommended for longevity. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.

Care Advice: Tables

Wood tops:
Table tops are handmade from local, sustainably sourced solid wood.

Clean Ash and Walnut tops with a warm, soapy, damp cloth gently applied to the surface. Do not use any harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.

Accoya wood table tops are intended for outdoor applications. The Accoya wood used for Navy Lounge table tops is natural, untreated, and will grey and change color when exposed to exterior conditions. For cleaning any unwanted residue, we recommend mixing a white vinegar and water solution, at a ratio of 1:19, or 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 1 ¼ cups of water. Start by brushing the table with a soft to medium bristle scrub brush, then spraying the solution onto the Accoya wood, letting it soak for 5-10 minutes, before brushing it off and finishing with a quick rinse. Do not use harsh or abrasive
cleaning agents. Power/pressure washing should be avoided. Due to the nature of Accoya wood, the wood may not become
rough after surface moisture like most woods, so sanding may not be necessary. If desired, we recommend sanding with 180 Grit Sandpaper on a hard sanding block. Avoid orbital, palm sanders and any Velcro type fixing of the sanding pad.

Aluminum frames:
Navy Lounge tables with a hand brushed finish are clear anodized. Anodizing changes the aluminum surface to aluminum oxide, a super-strong material which can be used outdoors. We suggest cleaning it with soap and water to remove grit and other air pollutants that can pit the surface. You can also use Windex®, Formula 409® or similar spray cleaner, with or without bleach followed by a lint free towel. Hydrogen peroxide-based cleaners may also be used, dilution level 1:10. Wash any film or residue with hot water. Do not use Stainless Steel cleaner on any aluminum furniture. For Heavy-duty dirt or oil use a very hot water and strong soap, followed by LIGHT scrubbing in the direction of the aluminum grain with a soft bristled brush or damp Scotchbrite® pad.
