Navy Classic Semi-upholstered by Emeco, 1948

The classic semi-upholstered Navy Chair® was first introduced in 1948 when US Navy officers were redeployed off Navy Warships to land based facilities, and wanted a little more comfort than the ship board 1006 Navy Chair® provided. Since then, the 1011 Navy swivel armchair has been used for settings where an extra level of comfort and durability is demanded. Height adjustable with a tilt mechanism to adjust the angle of the seat. Offered in black leather as standard - please contact us for custom textiles.

In the throes of WWII, the US Navy needed a place to sit. The naval officers requested a softer seat than the shipboard 1006 Navy Chair®. Turns out, what worked for one demanding environment also suits many, many others.
