Care + Maintenance

1 Inch Chairs & Stools

All 1 Inch chairs and stools are made by hand from recycled aluminum, with either a hand brushed, clear anodized finish or a black powder coated finish. Each piece is unique with subtle differences.

Aluminum frames for chairs and stools:
Clean the aluminum frame with soap and water, and dry with a soft cloth. You can also use Windex®, Formula 409® or similar spray cleaner, with or without bleach followed by a lint free towel. Hydrogen peroxide-based cleaners may also be used, dilution level 1:10. Wash any film or residue with hot water. Do not use Stainless Steel cleaner on any aluminum furniture. For Heavy-duty dirt or oil use a very hot water and strong soap, followed by LIGHT scrubbing in the direction of the aluminum grain with a soft bristled brush or damp Scotchbrite® pad.

Anodized aluminum is corrosion-proof and can be used outdoors, however we suggest cleaning with soap and water every two weeks to remove grit and other air pollutants that can pit the surface.

Seats in 100% recycled wood polypropylene:
Clean with soap and water and dry with a soft cloth. Bleach may also be used, as well as hydrogen peroxide-based cleaners, dilution level 1:10. Alcohol based cleaners may appear to whiten the recycled polypropylene material. Should this occur, we recommend wiping it down with a lubricant such as WD-40 to remove any residue and restore the surface. Chairs and stools with seats in reclaimed wood polypropylene are suitable for outdoor use.

Seats in plywood:
Clean with mild soap and water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners.

Take care not to expose the wood to extremes in temperature or humidity. Wet surfaces should be dried immediately. Wood changes color over time under normal conditions of light exposure, but do not expose directly to sunlight and heat.

Upholstered seats:
For seats with upholstery, please refer to the fabric/material supplier's care advice.

Glides:
Glides are the small "feet" at the bottom of each chair leg. Adding new glides - and making sure you have the right type of glides for your floor - can make the world of difference and breathe new life into your product. Learn more.

Ash and Walnut solid wood table top:
Each table top is handcrafted from solid ash and walnut. Differences in appearance are natural.

Accoya wood table top:
Accoya wood table tops are suitable for outdoor applications. Like any natural wood species, Accoya will grey and change color when exposed to exterior conditions. Regular cleaning with a warm, soapy, damp cloth gently applied to the surface is recommended for longevity. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents. Power/pressure washing should be avoided.

Laminate and HPL table top:
Use a clean, damp, nonabrasive cotton cloth and a mild liquid detergent or household cleaner. Rinse with clean water, using a clean, non-abrasive cotton cloth.
