Accoya
wood for outdoor use
Accoya is a sustainable, modified wood for outdoor use. Made from a fast-growing pine, grown in managed forests, it's treated in a non-toxic acetylation process similar to pickling that makes the wood durable, rot-resistant and dimensionally stable - perfect for exterior applications.
Emeco offers Accoya for table tops, benches and seats for chairs and stools intended for outdoor use. Over time, the natural wood will patinate; it may change color with UV exposure and gain marks and stains, hallmarks of a well used product.
While Accoya will maintain its stable structure in outdoor use, the natural pine wood with its characteristics of a soft, oily wood - which makes it perfect for exteriors - can start showing marks of use faster than hardwoods that are intended for interiors.
